Portugal

After having travelled for what seemed days on trans-continental flights the prospect of visiting Portugal held much more appeal...

We arrived in late afternoon and just had time to visit our favourite tavern for some late night food. Then it was off to bed and prepare for an early start. Our first stop was some of the port houses located on the banks of the river Douro in Porto. Tradition still has a big part to play in the wine making process. Grape pickers by day tread the grapes bear-foot by night to the sound of traditional music and looked like they were having a lot of fun – doubtless it adds to that great “Taylors” taste! We then travelled about one hundred miles inland, to the Douro valley, one of Portugal's most beautiful wine growing areas, and saw how vines are flourishing on the sheer banks of the river. The filming was spectacular and hopefully will inspire thousands to head out that way to try the wines themselves. Wish you were here? – see the Portugal Clips below.
